Donation Guidelines
By following these guidelines, we can ensure that our resources are used effectively to help individuals and communities in need. Thank you for your understanding.
Tax Receipts and Donation Process
- If your items donated are selected for sale in our store, your donor account will be assigned to your items and placed for sale in the thrift store when we feel it’s the best time to sell.
- We cannot guarantee donations made to the Hospice Thrift Store will sell and for this reason we cannot promise a tax receipt to everyone.
- Items which stand the best chance to be issued a receipt for are those of higher quality including, designer brands, luxury fabrics ( Cashmere, Linnen, Leather, real Furs etc) and items with new tags, near new, lightly used household items, purses and jewellery.
- Your donations which do sell in the Hospice Thrift Store are eligible for an income tax receipt for the total value paid by the customer and will be mailed or emailed to you by March of each year.
We understand your donations hold emotional and sentimental meaning to you, however we reserve the right to accept or reject donations we feel will not sell at our shop. By donating items to the Hospice Thrift Store, the donor agrees to release the items. With gratitude we thank you for your understanding.
Pricing
- Our prices are as marked and merchandise is sold as is. We do not barter with customers or negotiate on prices set.
- Items donated to the Hospice Thrift Store are priced by volunteers and staff members at their discretion. We need to move items quickly on our sales floor to manage our large inventory; therefore your items may sell at a discounted price after a period of time. Some items donated may not be eligible for a tax receipt.
Return Policy
All sales are final. We do not offer refunds, returns or exchanges.
Hold Policy
We may at our discretion place a hold on items for 24 hours on the request of a shopper.
Phone Purchases
We will accept payment over the phone with acknowledgement of our return policy.
